Last Saturday Quad hosted Sledge-Lit, Edge-Lit’s Christmas vacation. Edge-Lit is an event celebrating the genres of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror. With panel discussions, book launches, workshops and the chance to mingle with some fabulous authors, Sledge-Lit was a vibrant look at the alternative side of publishing.
During the course of the day I attended three of the panels: Break it Down – The Value of Subgenre in SF and Fantasy, Spreading Your Wings – Is Fantasy Broadening as a genre?, and The Future Isn’t Bright: Has Dystopia Become Dominant in SF?
I also went to two workshops: Natasha Pulley, Constructing Historical Fiction and Rod Duncan, Just One More Chapter – The Art of Keeping Them Reading Way Past Bedtime!
Over the next week or two I will endeavour to review and share the things I learnt with you all.
